The consortium carried out a needs analysis in relation to generic skills in aquaculture research. The results found that the majority of researchers agreed that Team Management is the top generic skill for a researcher to effectively move from academia to the private sector and Scientifc Writing is the top generic skill for a researcher to achieve a prominent career in academia.
In contrast the majority of stakeholders identified Project Management as the top generic skill for a researcher to effectively move from academia to the private sector and as the top generic skill for an experienced researcher to have to achieve a senior position in their organisation.
